Getting Ready

How did I choose the Tiger R6 ?

I wanted a 'Seven' style car, which reduced the field a bit.

It had to be a quickish build, so either a single donor car, or a complete kit, which eliminated a few more models.

I wanted value for money, which ruled out some more.

I wanted to deal with a supplier that was flexible.  This was where Tiger really stole the show.  There was no hesitation when I asked if I could make a few changes to the standard kit.

Finally, it had to be fast - hence the R6.

Here's a few notes on the preparation that I'm making.

  • Tools

I've got a reasonable selection, but I'll need a decent pop riviter.

  • Other stuff

Got a BIG tin of hand cleaner !  I've got to get some axle stands or similar.

Didn't bother with axle stands.  I made a couple of trestles instead.  The wood only cost £10.

  • Garage

This was the biggie !  I've cleaned out the garge, painted the walls white and and carpeted it.  Kenny, one of my neighbours was bribed to help me.  Thanks Kenny !

Another florescent strip light has gone up over the bench.

Got the mick taken for carpetting the garage, but I don't care - It's me who will end up spending a lot of time kneeling on a nice carpet rather than a cold concrete floor.

All I need now is a bit of heat !

Notice the strip of wood along the front ?  That's partly to keep the carpet in position, but mainly to block up the 3/4 inch gap under the door that seems to attract dead leaves in Autumn, and no doubt a cold draft whenever your working on the car.
